Celebrated Faculty To Speak at Undergraduate Commencements

The faculty members selected to speak at the baccalaureate commencements this June have made important contributions to undergraduate teaching and learning over a total of about 120 years on campus. Collectively, their recognitions include everything from on-campus honors to a U.S. presidential award.

In chronological order of the ceremonies, the speakers are:

Speakers Named for Spring Undergraduate Commencements

Alumni distinguished as leaders in public health, education — and even outer space — have been named as the guest speakers for the campus’s three undergraduate commencements in June.

Nadine Burke Harris, the state’s first surgeon general, will address thousands of graduates and their guests at the ceremony on June 12; Francisco Rodriguez, chancellor of the Los Angeles Community College District, on June 13; and NASA astronaut Tracy Caldwell Dyson, on June 14.

Diane Bryant, chief operating officer of Google Cloud, will return to her alma mater as one of the guest speakers at the June commencements of the University of California, Davis.

Civil Rights Icon John Lewis First of Commencement Speakers at 51�ԹϺ�� Davis

Civil rights icon John Lewis, who has served as U.S. representative for Georgia’s 5th Congressional District since 1986, will launch graduation season at the University of California, Davis, with an address to the School of Law commencement on Saturday, May 14.
