Making Waves for Safety: 51�ԹϺ�� Davis Athletes Launch Free Swim Initiative

Lillie Vehling and Sadie Henry are turning their passion and lifelong connection to the water into something bigger than sport. Vehling, a double major in aerospace and mechanical engineering, and Henry, who studies neurobiology, physiology and behavior with a minor in public health, are channeling their experiences into SWAG, or Swim Ags, a project aimed at closing a critical gap in water safety education while building a stronger sense of community on campus.

Three 51�ԹϺ�� Davis teams have announced plans to move to new conferences: Beach volleyball and men’s water polo will join the the West Coast Conference as affiliate members, while women’s water polo will join the Golden Coast Conference.

Excitement is building for the first two football games of the home season, given that this Saturday’s contest will welcome thousands of incoming first-year and transfer students, who have arrived for orientation; and the game a week later is a special one for staff and faculty (think free tickets and a tailgate, and then think about free tickets for three other athletics events in fall quarter).
