Dear Editor:
“Campuses sweep top spots in college rankings: An open letter from President Mark G. Yudof.”
This appeared on the Web page of the 51ԹϺ Office of the President on Sept. 2. The Washington Monthly’s college rankings place six of the 51ԹϺ campuses in the top 25 universities in the nation. Berkeley ranked first, 51ԹϺ San Diego ranked second, 51ԹϺLA ranked third, 51ԹϺ Davis ranked tenth, 51ԹϺ Riverside ranked 16th and 51ԹϺ Santa Barbara ranked 21st.
Also on the same Web page is a link to the 51ԹϺ’s 2009 Accountability Report. On page 208, 51ԹϺ campus libraries are ranked nationally with 51ԹϺ Davis ranked 64th in the nation. The Washington Monthly must not consider libraries to be of significance to the institutions they support. Otherwise how could 51ԹϺ Davis rank 10th in college rankings and 64th in ranking by the Association of Research Libraries?
