51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis to Test Emergency Alert Service on April 22

51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis is scheduled to test its WarnMe emergency alert service -- for providing students and employees with timely information and instructions in major emergencies -- on Wednesday, April 22.

The test, scheduled to begin shortly before noon, will include the Davis and Sacramento campuses and other facilities.

51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis will send WarnMe test messages to work and personal e-mail addresses, work and personal landlines and cell phones, SMS text devices and pagers that have been registered with the service.

The only action asked of recipients will be to reply to the e-mail message to acknowledge its receipt and complete an online survey about the test.

The annual test is an opportunity for 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis to monitor the performance of 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis voice and e-mail networks during use of WarnMe, document and establish standards for message delivery times, and raise awareness about the service.

WarnMe is part of the university’s comprehensive emergency management program. 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis introduced the service in February 2008 and has used it in two incidents.
