51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis stands to receive $30.1 million in construction money as a result of voters' passage Tuesday of Proposition 1D.
Vote results from the secretary of state's office Wednesday morning showed Proposition 1D receiving a 56.6 percent "yes" vote. The tally represents a count of all but 10 precincts in the state, plus absentee ballots received prior to Election Day.
Proposition 1D authorizes the state to sell $10.4 billion worth of bonds for facilities at all levels of public education, from kindergarten through community college and university. The 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ system overall is in line for $890 million, with 51³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏ Davis' share allocated as follows:
- King Hall (School of Law) — Expansion (18,800 square feet) and renovation (14,300 square feet), consolidating instruction and research space, office and student-faculty support space, and the law library.
- Veterinary Medicine 3B — A new building, comprising 99,000 square feet, to replace obsolete and inadequate space in Haring Hall.
- Electrical improvements — Phase 4 of a program to meet projected electrical demand, including appropriate system redundancy to ensure reliable service.
Proposition 1D received heavy support in Yolo County (62 percent), and Sacramento and Solano counties (57 percent in both).
